Francesca Goddard born in Edinburgh 1976 has a BA Hons in Religious Studies from Stirling university, an MPhil in Archaeology from Glasgow University and has lived and worked in Dublin, Glasgow, York, the Cape Verde Islands before returning to Edinburgh. Since then she has started a family, learnt to garden, grow veg and keep chickens. Added two cats and a dog, lost a father and misplaced a husband and is keen to concentrate on developing her art career/practise. Being diagnosed with adhd later in life made sense of my scattered biography. I am interested in what is unknown to me. I follow my mother and grandmother in that respect we learn and then pivot and have five thin careers, one for each day of the week. My other interests are legion. I hope to be able to make something you might want to look at. That is all.

Art is just for fun, the way telling a joke to someone might stop them from killing themselves”

I

Hi, I’m Francesca

I’m a Scottish artist working in East Lothian, near Edinburgh. Autodidactic artist. I had no art teacher at school for Highers and so went down the road of Archaeology instead. However that didn’t hold me for long and I realised in my thirties that the only common thread in my variable work and home life was a desire to create visuals whether by merchandising in shops and cafe’s, interior design, making paintings, garden design. I see patterns where others may not. I seek to order and to learn ways of communicating ideas and emotions. I make art because if I am not creating I’d just be a house cat. I have relished being able to spend masses of time with my children while they were young thanks to a workaholic husband and now I am nearing fifty and can’t work in an office so it’s art or the die.

Yours Sincerely,

Drama Queen
